What exactly does a doula do?
A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Unlike medical providers, I focus entirely on your comfort and well-being. I offer comfort measures like massage and breathing techniques, help you understand your options, and provide a calm, supportive presence throughout.
How is a doula different from a midwife?
A midwife is a medical professional who can deliver your baby and provide prenatal care. A doula does not perform any clinical tasks—no exams, no medication, no delivering babies. Instead, I focus on emotional support, comfort measures, and helping you communicate with your medical team. Many families have both a midwife and a doula.
Will my partner feel left out if we have a doula?
Not at all! I work with your partner, not instead of them. I show partners how to provide effective support, give them breaks when needed, and help them feel confident in their role. Many partners say having a doula actually allowed them to be more present and less stressed.
When should I hire a doula?
I recommend reaching out in your second trimester, though I'm happy to work with families at any stage. Early contact allows us time to build a relationship and thoroughly prepare for your birth.
What if I'm planning a medicated birth or cesarean?
I support all types of births! Whether you want an epidural, are planning a cesarean, or prefer an unmedicated birth, I'm here for you. Doula support has been shown to benefit families regardless of how their baby is born.
What if my baby comes early or late?
I'm on call for you starting at 38 weeks and remain available until your baby arrives. If your baby comes before 38 weeks, I do my best to attend. I also have backup doula arrangements in case of overlapping clients or emergencies.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I understand that doula support is an investment, and I want to make it accessible. We can discuss payment arrangements during your consultation.

What happens during a consultation?
The free consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss your pregnancy, your hopes and concerns, what you're looking for in a doula, and how I work. There's no pressure—it's about finding the right fit.
